Strengthening Technological Competitiveness in Defense and Security Markets and Promoting Strategic Cooperation Linked to Defense Programs
Future advanced air mobility (AAM) solutions company Airbility announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Korea Counter-Drone Industry Association to cooperate in the fields of drones and counter-drone technologies. The agreement aims to strengthen technological competitiveness in the defense and security sectors by integrating counter-drone technologies designed to respond to drone threats with unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems, while also promoting mutual growth through collaboration in defense industry projects.
Through this partnership, the two organizations will pursue continuous research and development in drone and counter-drone convergence technologies and proactively respond to evolving demands in both domestic and global markets. They will also jointly analyze the latest technological trends in counter-drone systems—including drone detection, identification, and neutralization—and cooperate to generate deployable operational outcomes based on these technologies.
In particular, the collaboration will combine Airbility’s development capabilities in high-speed eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft and UAVs based on tilt electric propulsion technology with the Korea Counter-Drone Industry Association’s counter-drone technology network. Through this synergy, the partners aim to create significant value in the defense and security sectors.
As drone threats continue to increase worldwide, the importance of counter-drone technologies has grown significantly. In particular, there is rising demand in defense and security sectors for integrated systems capable of detecting, identifying, and neutralizing hostile drones. The convergence technologies developed through this collaboration are expected to serve as a foundation for strengthening the competitiveness of Korea’s counter-drone industry.
Yang Byung-hee, Chairman of the Korea Counter-Drone Industry Association, stated,
